Go Green!

Dark green leafy veggies are good for you, you know that already. Do you know why they are so good for you? I’ll tell ya!

Researchers have shown that eating dark greens helps you maintain good health because they reduce your risk of heart disease and some cancers (that’s good enough for me!). They’re also rich in beta-carotene, and vitamins C and E, which help protect your body from free radicals (free radicals are unstable oxygen molecules that can damage your cells), they also contain vitamin B (folate) and vitamin K as well! Eating dark greens on a regular basis can also help to lower your blood pressure and cholesterol levels, promote normal eyesight, and improve your gastrointestinal function.

Here’s a list of the top 6 that make the cut (in my humble opinion):

6 of the Best Dark Green Veggies for You :

  • spinach
  • broccoli
  • kale
  • Swiss chard
  • romaine and red-leaf lettuce
  • bok choy

If I had to add a seventh (much to my children’s dismay) it would be brussel sprouts.
