Fast Food Fixes


We’ve all been in a situation where eating out is the only option. What to do? No worries, I have yet to be at a restaurant or even fast food chain where there is absolutely nothing I can eat. With the weather warming up, eating out is going to be unavoidable, but it doesn’t have to be the death of you or your healthy eating  either. Here’s a few of the healthier options I (or a friend of mine) has discovered at some of the fast food chains.


Asian Salad with Grilled Chicken (make sure you request no orange glaze)

Burger King:

Tendergrill Chicken Garden Salad (You guessed it! No croutons, cheese or dressing.)

Taco Bell:

Chicken Ranchero Taco, Fresco Style (no avocado dressing or cheese)


6″ Oven Roasted Chicken Breast (load up on the veggies and skip the sauces-This is my personal favorite from Subway)


Mandarin Chicken Salad (don’t add the fun little bonus bags o’ goodies. Say no to the almonds, noodles and that dressing pouch they give ya.)


Grilled Chicken Sandwich (you have to request it without honey mustard sauce)


Chargrilled Chicken Garden Salad (without croutons and the dressing)

*That being said, now you have to hear my disclaimer. Eating out is obviously not the healthiest option that you can choose. However, it is nice to know that if a friend offers to take you to lunch or if you find yourself with 10 minutes in between obligations that there are a few options that are available through the nearest drive through. Part of a healthy lifestyle is making sure that it is something you feel is doable for the long haul. If you feel like you are not allowed to eat out because you must be chained to the stove to make everything from scratch, are you likely to follow that plan for the rest of your life? Not very. You have to be able to feel like you can live your life and be at least a little bit flexible with your eating habits. 🙂
