A Hearty Breakfast


I recently had a client tell me that he had prepared his steel cut oats in the crock pot over the weekend and how good they were. It piqued my interest and I asked him more about it. The instructions are quite simple, the result is outstanding and the best thing about it is that you just put it all in, stir it up and go to bed. When you wake up in the morning, a warm hearty breakfast is ready and waiting for you…and the whole house smells yummy to boot! BONUS!

Cinnamon and Cranberry Oats

  • 6 cups water
  • 2 cups steel cut oats
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 Tbs. pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp. pure almond extract
  • 3/4 ┬ácup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds

Place all ingredients in a medium to large crock pot, stir and set on warm. Place the lid on top of the crock pot and GO TO BED! In the morning you have a whole grain, warm and hearty breakfast that you can actually take the time to sit and eat at the kitchen table with your family because you’ve eliminated the prep time! Not only do you get breakfast with the fam, you’re also doing worlds of good for your heart, as oats help lower cholesterol and make your heart happy. Score!
